Dubai Hosted First CEO Clubs Awards, Corporate Honchos from

Dubai, May 03, 2009: The 30-year old global business club from the US CEO CLUBS in coordination with its country chapter in the UAE had first annual CEO Clubs Awards 2009 which recognizes business excellence of corporate houses in the UAE and across the world Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Juma Al Maktoum.
Unveiling the details of the CEO Clubs Awards 2009 Mr. Tariq A. Nizami, Founder of CEO Clubs UAE, said Dubai has been chosen for its global awards event in light of the emirate’s reputation as a global business hub and the UAE’s unrivalled standing as an economic powerhouse in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).
Commenting on the awards ceremony in Dubai, Mr. Tariq A. Nizami, Founder of CEO Clubs UAE, said: “The decision to hold this global event in Dubai is a significant Endeavour by the CEO Clubs to reinforce the reputation of Dubai and the UAE as MENA’s business hotspot housing a significant number of Fortune 500 companies. Despite the global slowdown, the UAE economy is holding out very well and our decision to hold the first ever global award event is also a reflection of the positive perception of the global business community on Dubai and the region.”
He said the award ceremony was attended by the members of Dubai’s ruling family, VVIPS, senior government and corporate representatives from the UAE, region as well as from across the world, particularly from countries where chapters of CEO Clubs exist.
“Awards were given to various UAE-based entities including government departments and private sector companies for their outstanding achievements in business excellence,” Mr. Nizami said.
Awards of excellence will also be given to corporate firms from countries in which CEO Clubs exist which include the US, UK, Korea, Philippines, India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and China. The event was also attended by sizeable number of delegates from across the world to Dubai.
Awards for excellence were given out in various categories including banking and finance, education, healthcare, trading, hospitality, gold and diamonds, media, entertainment. Property and development, retail, manufacturing, branding, IT and Internet, sports, airlines and travel, and non-government organizations.
The outstanding award categories are excellent performer among government departments, CEO of the Year 2009 Middle East and Lifetime achievement award.
CEO Clubs UAE chapter was established in 2006 and ever since it has helped forged cross-border business relationships between the UAE and other countries.“Through the CEO Clubs worldwide, we have been able to generate business in billions of dollars, including inward and outward investments in five years and we are confident to increase this volume further as we move along,” Mr. Nizami said.
